1. What should a technician do if a terminal is fenced in a customer's rear easement and the homeowner is not home, and the fence is locked?
Hop the fence anyway. Call the supervisor for permission to climb the fence. Note on the door tag that the customer will need to call the Storefront to reschedule a time to gain access. Install the drop from the closest accessible pole.
2. When running an aerial drop from pole to pole, what must the technician ensure to avoid safety issues and damage?
That it's exactly 18 inches from the pole. That it uses only J-Hooks. That the drop height is sufficient as not to get ripped down by vehicles. That it is secured with tracer wire.
3. When attaching the drop to a customer's residence, what is the rule regarding the P hook?
They must use an existing P hook from another utility provider. They can attach to the power mast. They must install a P hook and cannot use an existing P hook or attachment from another utility provider. They must use a P hook only if the drop is over 100 feet.
4. How far must the Metronet aerial drop be placed below the electric line and other utility providers?
18 inches below electric and 12 inches below others. 40 inches from all utilities. 12 inches below the electric line and 4 inches below other utility providers. 6 inches from the power mast.
5. What is the minimum clearance required for a Metronet aerial drop over roads and alleys with truck traffic?
10 feet. 12 inches. 15 ½ feet minimum (18 feet preferred). 40 inches.
6. What is the minimum clearance required for a Q-Span from the pole, and what can be used as a guide to measure it?
8 inches; a can wrench. 18 inches; measure your elbow to your fingertips. 40 inches; a tape measure. 6 inches; a service loop.
7. What is the maximum number of drops that can be attached to any single Q-Span?

8. What is the minimum radius required for all service loops?

9. Where must service loops be installed for an aerial drop?
At the Terminal and at all "pass" poles. At the Terminal and at the P-Hook, but NOT at any "pass" poles. Only at the P-Hook on the house. Only on mid-span Q-Spans.
10. What must a technician never attach the aerial drop to on the customer's home?
The fascia board. The siding. The power mast. The P-Hook.
